2010 will mark 27 years of success for INTERMACH. Even with the global economic downturn the show was a winner and in fact 2009 was its best year ever. But what does the future hold?

No one has a crystal ball of course, but we do have the benefit of intelligent, fact-based analysis of economic trends and models.

The International Monetary Fund is forecasting that the present recession will follow a “U” shaped curve with recovery coming in 2010. In fact there have already been positive signs in both the automotive and electromic industries.

Orders for electrical and electronic products from markets such as the Middle East, Asia, Russia and Eastern Euope have recently increased by as much as 80%, according to Thailand’s Board of Industry.

Another positive indicator comes from Japanese car makers. Nissan recently announced that production of its compact car, ‘Match’ would be transferred to Thailand. And Honda also said that its new ‘City’ automobile would be assembled here. In addition the Eco car project that was on hold is slated to receive new investment and 578,000 units per year is the new target for this vehicle.

All of the above indicates that the dark clouds of 2009 are already starting to part and 2010 will be a year of opportunity for manufacturers and subcontractors. The theme for INTERMACH 2010 is “Where the customer is
No 1.” And next year’s show will focus on how to strengthen your customer base and increase customer satisfaction.
